RAILWAY MODELLER June 2026 Vol.77 No.908
In the June 2026 issue of Railway Modeller, we mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Nigel Gresley, the legendary Chief Mechanical Engineer of the London & North Eastern Railway. Special features for the occasion are a history of his life and work, with TT:120 scale drawings of some of his locomotives, and a plan for an extensive OO gauge layout of Doncaster, the birthplace of many of those locomotives. We also review the new Gresley J50 0-6-0T in TT:120 scale from Hornby.
Railway of the Month is Stoke Canon, an N gauge layout re-creating the idyllic scenery of South Devon, while other layouts featured include Bankfield, an OO gauge Privatisation era exhibition layout built by Blackburn & East Lancashire Model Railway Society; Abbey Shed, a compact OO9 layout constructed for the Peco RAIL200 Model Layout Competition; and St Jude's Bay, an OO and OO9 layout that was extracted from a permanent position in a loft and adapted for exhibition use.Â
Modelling articles include the story of how the Wilmington Grammar School for Boys Model Railway Club built an entry for the Peco RAIL200 competition; a guide to modelling trees by Gordon Gravett; and how to build the new 7mm scale wooden platform halt kit from Peco. New product reviews include the London & South Western Railway T3 4-4-0 in OO by EFE Rail, N gauge wagons and TT:120 lineside fencing from Peco, and OO gauge RailRoad Class 37 diesels from Hornby.
